J. Patrick Short is the President and Account Executive of Benefit Services Group, Inc. He has over 30 years of employee benefits experience and will bring the benefit of his broad knowledge and expertise to every client, both large and small. As a President and Account Executive, Pat has assisted his clients with the design, installation and communication of their employee benefit plans and helped them in making their plans cost-effective and value-driven. J. Patrick Short, L.I.C. graduated from Ferris State University in Big Rapids Michigan with a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1969. He completed Officers Candidate School as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Short began his insurance career with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in the Employee Benefits / Group Division in 1969. He progressed from contract analysis, to account service representative and on to group marketing. His main responsibility was labor related and national accounts. His other experience includes working for Massachusetts Mutual in the Home Offices in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Detroit. He ran a third-party administration and self-funding for Paul F. Livingston Associates. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan used his expertise for developing major accounts.

Credentials: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ferris State University; Ken also held various sales positions with John Hancock Life, Confederation Life, and General American Life.

Insurance Industry Training: Completion of several CLU courses; also completed several courses in the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) Curriculum, as well as many continuing education courses.

Insurance Industry Involvement: Ken has served as a member of several professional organizations, including the Michigan Group Representatives Association and the Greater Detroit Life Underwriters Associations. He also serves on the Agent Advisory Councils for several insurance companies and local associations.
